Miniature Teacup Chihuahua
Thinking about buying a miniature teacup Chihuahua? You may
be drawn in by the cuteness of these pictures that breeders put
up on the internet showing them in coffee mugs or next to a
dollar bill to show their size.
These are very expensive dogs, and you should be aware of a
few things before shelling money out for a miniature teacup
Chihuahua.
First of is the ethics. The National
Chihuahua breeders club has issued a statement saying that it
is not ethical to advertise dogs a miniature or teacup.
Breeders will use almost any angle to get you to buy their
dogs, but you should be aware that these people are not
following recommended guidelines in naming their dogs.
The second concern of miniature teacup Chihuahua is their
health. These dogs live much shorter lives then their full size
equivalents and often suffer from more health problems.
A miniature teacup Chihuahua is essentially
the runt of the litter and breeders will still charge you top
dollar for these dogs, ranging from $1000 to $4000 depending on
color.
Normal Chihuahuas weight around 6 or 7 pounds. These dogs
weigh only about 3 pounds.
Before you buy that cut puppy make sure you get a written
contract guaranteeing the health of the dog for at
least 5 years. It may sound unreasonable, but for a
dog that costs that much money a breeder should stand behind
their dog.
