5 Tips for Adopting A Chihuahua

1. Puppy or Adult?When adopting a Chihuahua most people automatically assume that means a puppy. But consider adopting an adult Chihuahua for a minute. Adults are housebroken, fully vaccinated and already spayed/neutered. Also puppies can require a considerable amount of attention when they are younger.

2. Shelters:  Shelters can be good place to find a cheap Chihuahua. However be aware that a lot of dogs at shelters are there because of behavior problems. This should not discourage you from getting a dog there though. Most of these dogs are great and need a loving home. With a little attention these dogs can become great pets.

3. Breeders:  If you want to get a pedigreed Chihuahua then getting it from a breeder is the way to go. Make sure you ask for references and make the breeder has been in business for a while and has no complaints lodged against them through the better business bureau.

4. Classified Ads:  Newspaper classifieds can also be a great resource when adopting a Chihuahua. Normally you can find someone who might have some extra puppies or an older person no longer able to care for their dog.

5. Rescues:  Chihuahua rescue organizations are another great place to find Chihuahuas that need a loving home. You can find rescue locations near you by searching in the phone book, or through an online search for
