Clothing for Your Chihuahua

Chihuahua clothing is more popular than you think. Most people do it because it looks fashionable and they like to play dress up. But clothing your Chihuahua is also for practical reasons as well.

Chihuahuas are very small and small animals have trouble maintaining their body heat in cold weather. So even if you live in moderately cold climate it would be best to put a sweater on your dog when going outside for a walk.

You can buy Chihuahua clothing anywhere. The largest selections are usually online through the internet, but buying the clothing through an actual physical store may be better. This way you can bring your dog with you and see if it fits before buying. When you buy things online you have to hope that the clothing will fit, whereas in an actual store you will know before buying.

Different dog clothing manufactures may size their clothes differently. Some make dog clothes as one size fits all, whereas other make them by weight or size.

If you want to dress your Chihuahua make sure you start doing it when they are young so they get accustomed to wearing clothing. Older Chihuahuas may not tolerated wearing a sweater if they have never worn one before.

Once you start dressing your Chihuahua make sure you always have something on even in the summer months so they stay accustomed to wearing it. In the summer you could at least but a bandana around the neck or a t-shirt on.

Chihuahua clothing can prevent a choking hazard though. Make sure you only dress your Chihuahua when our are around to supervise, otherwise they could become caught somewhere in the house and strangle themselves.
