Chihuahuas and Other Pets
Chihuahuas and other pets simply do not mix most of the
time. Most Chihuahuas owners only own Chihuahuas and not other
pets. Chihuahuas are capable of getting along with other pets
though, but only in certain circumstances.
This intolerance is not reserved just for other pets, but
for small children as well. Chihuahuas and small children dog
not get along either most of the time.
Chihuahuas get along famously well with other Chihuahuas,
which is amazing. You can take a strange Chihuahua and
introduce them into your house to your other Chihuahua and they
will get along great, irregardless of sex or age. However if
you try to introduce another breed of dog you would likely have
huge problems.
Chihuahuas often fight with other pets in the house and they
have a very low tolerance for other pets. This is part of the
famous Chihuahua temperament.
There are ways to introduce other pets in with Chihuahuas
though
One way is to bring the Chihuahua into a home where the
other pets already live. Under this situation the Chihuahua
likely assumes that since the other pets were already there,
they are not going to be going away, so it is best to get
along.
You could also try to introduce pets when they are both very
young. Obviously this approach only works if you donÕt have the
pets already.
Under extreme circumstances pet owners are foced to keep the
pets separated. In large houses this is usually not a problem,
but most people have smaller houses, condos, or apartments, so
this is not a very good option.
If you do have Chihuahuas and other pets not getting along
it is best to have lost of hiding spaces around. This way if
the pets want to get away from an aggressive pet they can.
While introducing another pet is possible, it is much easier
to just get another Chihuahua if you want another pet.
Chihuahuas get along famously with each other and are very
loving and protective of their owner.
